Editorial Note: GPN Genocide Prevention Now compiles and maintains an ongoing international directory of organizations that promote an awareness of genocide and its ramifications along with its prevention. Many victim groups include individuals and organizations that also have been perpetrators. Being included in this list does not necessarily represent an endorsement of the position of the group.
As the number of organizations continue to grow yearly, the interest, concern and dedication to confront the issue of genocide grows. Our directory relates the following types of organizations and to other relevant organizations: Genocide Prevention Organizations, Scholarly Organizations, University-affiliated Institutes and Centers, Holocaust Organizations, Armenian Genocide Organizations, Cambodian Genocide Organizations, Kurdish Genocide Organizations, Native American Genocide Commemorative Organizations, organizations specializing in the genocides of other ethnic groups, and others.
The development of organizations in the field of Holocaust and genocide studies shows an activist as well as scholarly approach to the field. Through GPN, we want to provide an overview of the various organizations in the field, including those that address areas of genocide within their larger organization that is also committed to other purposes. We hope that people consulting GPN will be able to locate specific organizations that can assist them in their personal interest and approach to the field.
In Issue 6, we are adding an additional 11 organizations to our cumulative list of organizations that appeared in our previous issue. We have continued to provide a description of each organization that will better acquaint people with the purpose and mission of each organization as well as all relevant contact information.
We are interested in receiving information about additional organizations as well as sections, departments or divisions of larger organizations that do not yet appear on our cumulative list. Our aim is to build a comprehensive directory of organizations that reflects substantially the truly interdisciplinary field of Holocaust and genocide studies.
